MPolySaturator vs MCharacter

Hi!

Do I get it right if I say that MPolySaturator is MCharacter's synthesis graph albeit limited to 3 octaves?

Bonus question:

Is there any technical difference between MCharacter's synthesis graph and notes graph? The main difference between them is obvious: notes vs harmonics. But I wonder why it's not possible to add sub-harmonics on the synthesis graph.

PS: As a hidden FR I'll think it'd be nice to add one (or even two) octaves of sub-harmonics to MPolySaturator. Or how about adding the 2nd and 3rd harmonics of the sub-octave (the major third and fifth of the fundamental). This will turn the MPolySaturator into an MAutoOrgan ;)

PPS: If this additions to MPolySaturator hurts the pricing model, I can imaginge an MOctaver which woud be basically the notes graph of MCharacter showing only the octaves.

Hi Masi,

actually these are very different. MCharacter assumes a monophonic instrument and then generates harmonics to that base tone. But MPolySaturator considers every frequency equaly relevant and generates harmonics for that ;). Hence it can also be used on polyphonic instruments. And it sounds very different.

There is no difference between synthesis and notes graphs. They are technically same, but as you know they have very different use.

Subharmonic generator is in MCharacter. In MPolySaturator it could be pretty extreme considering it would create a sub for everything in the signal :). Anyway soon there will be MBassador, which would do some sub generation too, without latency.

Thanks for clarifying the difference. Seems I didn't believe the description of MPolySaturator "which generates harmonics for every single frequency in your signal". :)
