Because it was the result of a joint venture between UVI and MOTU, and, although none of the parts clarified, that deal seems to be over, and UVI already launched Falcon, which may be regarded as the successor of Mach Five, up to the point of reading all files created for it.classic wrote:So many people selling it lately.
Please tell me why course I want to have it.
Thank you

So if users are selling it, and you think it is extremely nice, why not just buy it from them.classic wrote:Seems to me extremely nice pice of software.
Loades lots of formats, cool limestretch and pitchshifting that other samplers do not have.
Do you think that everytime somebody sell their piece of software it is because it is something wrong with it, or the dev is about to be bought be Apple ?

Yes and all of that plus a ton more is now inside Falcon, the only difference is that M5 converted more foreign formats, Falcon only reads sfz-files.classic wrote:Seems to me extremely nice pice of software.

But I prefere asking a may be silly question than buying something that has cool video tuts and smiling marketing people but hidden downs that just user coul tell you about.

So, I think you have all the information by now:classic wrote: But I prefere asking a may be silly question than buying something that has cool video tuts and smiling marketing people but hidden downs that just user coul tell you about.

1. Mach Five is an old version. It is still a cool instrument, with lots of features, but you may consider it abandonware. The only think it has in its favour is the possibily to read several foreign formats:
2. Falcon does everything that Mach Five did, and a lot more. The library it comes with is very small and very electronic oriented. But you receive a vouched from UVI which allows you to buy one more library from them. And they are constantly having sales, so, you can expand your own library quickly, as you need.
3. Falcon is cheaper too - but, as Simon said, the only forign format it can read is SFZ. For the rest you have to find another converter.

It is of course good to be cautious, but when it comes to MachFive, seems obvious that it is quality from A to Z.classic wrote:But I prefere asking a may be silly question than buying something that has cool video tuts and smiling marketing people but hidden downs that just user coul tell you about. To make an example, the product was first launched 13 years ago, and that can go to show how excellent it is:

To compare, Zebra was launched at the same time, that is still at v2, while MachFive is at v3

Yes... by UVI - THREE years ago. But now, UVI launched Falcon, and will no longer work in Mach Five (AFAIK). And since they were the coders...Numanoid wrote:Abandoware?fmr wrote:It is still a cool instrument, with lots of features, but you may consider it abandonware.

But MachFive is MOTU and not UVI ?fmr wrote:Yes... by UVI - THREE years ago. But now, UVI launched Falcon, and will no longer work in Mach Five (AFAIK). And since they were the coders...
What are the relations between them?
To compare: Sylenth1's latest major stable version is v2.2 and that was issued in 2008. Nobody is talking about that as abandoware.

MOTU just licensed the UVI software/code, the same developers (Olivier/Remy) as always are now developing Falcon, the deal with MOTU is obviously history.Numanoid wrote:But MachFive is MOTU and not UVI ?fmr wrote:Yes... by UVI - THREE years ago.
