It does. There's a button labelled "Movies" on the Edit screen.woggle wrote:I am getting more work doing sound design to video and was wondering if Tracktion supports that. If not, is there any plan to do so?

I've had a look and unfortunately I can't find anything of that kind. It appears not to be covered in the T6 version of the manual. I know it's been mentioned before on the forum, but I don't know whether there's more than that. It's not an area I know much about, but perhaps it's time that changed.
What operating system are you using, and what format will your video clips be?
Perhaps someone else has experience in that area and will let us know.

thanks Jabe - I am on win10 using T7
the videos I have tried seem to be of the right formats but they do not show up after i try to open them using the movies dialog. It worked once yesterday but I can't get it to work today, all i get is the movie window telling me no video is open.
Be a shame if this is buggy as tracktion looks pretty good but is pretty useless to me without reasonable video

I've a vague memory the video window was once in the habit of hiding. Does Alt-M get it to appear, or have you tried that? I'll see if I can add some video clips into an Edit to see what happens.

Hmmm, it does seem a bit random. I recorded an MP4 using W10's Camera (which wouldn't work with T7 open), but T7 won't play the video. The video window does take a bit of rediscovering sometimes. You can right-click and take the option to always keep it on top, but the resize options are not doing much, except making it hide more. Clicking the Show Video Window option off the Movies button usually brings it back, but it's not as predictable as one might hope.

thanks again - I tested with a few different formats and got it to work once. Bummer it is buggy as I really want to move away from using Reaper without going to all the expense of buying a Mac and Logicjabe wrote:Hmmm, it does seem a bit random. There were some options given in this thread:
www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=444211
Mostly it was alternate DAWs, but there are a couple of things you could try in Tracktion (a video player plugin, rewire etc)

thanks - if I go to another DAW it will probably be a switch to Mac and Logic - I am not interested in using externals (they mention a vst) that may or may not get updated, I really just want something that works and is consistently maintained.whyterabbyt wrote:There were some options given in this thread:

Reaper obviously has the most hideous usability out of the box of any DAW (which is a feature for many of the user base) but I am starting to go through the actions and deleting keystrokes for all the ones I will never use and assembling more sensible actions and options than the defaults
(eg who uses this? REAPER preferences > Editing Behaviour > If no items are selected, some split/trim/delete actions affect all items at edit cursor ) which is terrible and means if you have nothing selected when you split an item Reaper assumes you really meant everything is selected

FWIW, the ReaMenus menu set is far saner than the outlandishly crazed default set.woggle wrote:thanks - if I go to another DAW it will probably be a switch to Mac and Logic - I am not interested in using externals (they mention a vst) that may or may not get updated, I really just want something that works and is consistently maintained.whyterabbyt wrote:There were some options given in this thread:

thanks - ReaMenus is a good example of something I don't want to do anymore - use externals that may end up being broken. In this case ReaMenus are no longer supported and rely on the SWS extensions which I have previously found to be a bit buggy at times or at least unclear.whyterabbyt wrote:

Also I am enjoying deleting all the junk keyboard shortcuts
Not even though of the menus but deleting most of that will be fun as well

Fair enough, Ive tried and given up on Reaper because 'outlandishly crazed stuff' more times than I can count.woggle wrote:thanks - ReaMenus is a good example of something I don't want to do anymore - use externals that may end up being broken. that'd be me too if a video deadline over Xmas didn't force me to quickly buy another PC instead of switching to a Mac (and the deadline disaster was because my brand new Surface Pro 3 kept breaking down every couple of weeks with a week off between getting a new - soon to break down - one from Microsoft)whyterabbyt wrote:Fair enough, Ive tried and given up on Reaper because 'outlandishly crazed stuff' more times than I can count.woggle wrote:thanks - ReaMenus is a good example of something I don't want to do anymore - use externals that may end up being broken. Try converting it to MOV. I've never had any problems using MOVs. That used to be the only format that Tracktion supported.
