Hi Vojtech and Melda users,

I have a wish for MTurboEQ.

Background history: What makes the killer workflow of MTurboComp is that you can switch through the various high quality compressor models using the active presets and immediately hear how they sound, with compression working at some predefined level. I like this very much, because even that the settings are not yet adjusted to your material, you get a good preview of the character, with one mouseclick. Click on the model - hear the compression.

Request: I would really like to have this in MTurboEQ also. This would mean we'd have to have predefined non-zero settings for all models, I suggest some "loudness" curve, a 3db bass boost and 3db treble boost maybe. Of course these settings need not have anything to do with what you want to do later, but still they would give you an immediate preview of the EQs character.

What do you guys think about the idea?

Cheers, Thorsten

PS: would it be possible to change the predefined active preset myself so every user can define his own? Or maybe Vojtech could hand out a set of files that users can be overwriten if they don't like the default zero settings?

Hi Thorsten,

sorry, but that's a no. It's quite a different situation here. We could probably create some traditional presets, but to be honest, for me this whole thing just doesn't make sense, sorry. These are eqs, they don't have a "character", they have curves, which depend on the parameters, and every parameter depends on what you want and you rarely want the same thing, so... no I see no point in that really.

But they have different Q settings, curve types, saturation etc don't they? (Sorry not at the PC right now, can't check).

Anyway, is there any chance that I can personally modify the active presets to meet my taste and workflow?

I get the impression that turbo eq is about quick workflow and vintage emulation rather than power so i can understand why vojtech doesn't want to kill this thing with features.

An alternative solution is to use one of the auto eqs. In an effect chain add a noise generator making pink noise, then a turbo eq, then the auto eq of your choice. Disable the auto eq and noise generator and work on your track as usual with turbo eq. When you reach a point where you reach the limit of turbo eq's flexibility, it's time to switch to the auto eq. Enable the noise generator and auto eq, do an analysis without and with the turbo eq in the auto eq and match it. Then disable the noise generator and turbo eq and tweak the auto eq however you want.

Bit of a workaround, but you can actually set it all up in mxxx so it becomes pretty darn easy.

I think you got me all wrong. I wasnt asking for a feature, just for changed active presets. It's exactly about workflow, though it seems to be a personal thing of mine that others do differently

You can save your own presets. Just go to presets and click add.

Thanks, that could actually be a simple workaround. A few clicks more to open the preset browser and navigate to the correct folder, but not too bad.

You can use the next and previous arrows at the top for quick preset change.
