Yeah, many AVs fail from time to time, that's one of the reasons I don't use any... I install one from time to time to do a full scan "just in case", and that's it... No more, AV is more like a virus than antivirus these days

Yeah, got that too.
I restarted PC, disabled Avira and installed.
Then reenabled avira and started a plugin in the daw. I got the alarms but after all of it the
Melda plugins do work in the newest version...curious stuff these days.

I got this too - last week I installed a pile of plug-ins from issues 151 and 162 of MusicTechMag. Yesterday I ran a full Avira scan and it quarantined dozens and dozens of plug-ins. After doing some checks I went through them all and made it restore them. One by one - selecting several at once looks like it should work but doesn't, which is bad design.
Now another scan is going - one which I didn't start - and the ****ing thing is quarantining all the files I unquarantined last night! That is REALLY irritating behaviour. I've restore 50 or 60 files and it's quarantined them again. You'd think it would remember that I've unquarantined them. That is dreadful software design, and not the only example I've encountered in Avira this week.

Since there is more of you with this Avira junk, it's obviously some update in the AV. I can only suggest removing this thing again
. I hate AVs... ugh...

Avira is now junking VB.Net programs I've written with certain popular packages (html Agility for instance). It may be about to find its way off my machines.

If anyone submits the Melda Plug-ins Package to Avira before I get round to it, please mention it on here. I'll do likewise if I do it first. Thanks.

I also was a longtime Avira user and after installing the latest Melda's and Avira doing a scan, it quarantined 6800 files which I had to restore. It took me 2 hours. My first thought was that it was an issue with the latest Melda installer but Avira was also putting a ton of non Melda stuff in quarantine, like Midi files. I uninstalled Avira and switched to Avast free version. Not sure how many times I cursed restoring those files. I could only do a few hundred at a time.
Play it by ear

I've just done the latest updates for Avira (at 03.45am UK time, 11 October 2016) after reading the thread below on the Avira forum.
https://answers.avira.com/en/question/r ... ands-61904
I opened Avira and clicked on the Quarantine button to get a list of its contents. I did ctrl-A to select all of the quarantined items, then right-clicked and chose the Rescan Object. This rescanned 176 objects and decided that only 7 were suspicious after all. It restored the rest (though it claimed to have "cleaned" some too.
I hope this is useful for others. I haven't tried to use any of the restored plug-ins yet.

For future reference, the Quarantine section of Avira has an option for sending a file to Avira, labelling it as a possible False Positive. I've done this for all the MP files and some others (a few Visual Basic programs I wrote). Avira emailed back to say they'd cleared them. After this, I was able to highlight the relevant Quarantined files and scan them again. With updated Virus Definition Files, ones that had been reprieved were restored to their original locations.
All the free Melda plug-ins should no longer concern Avira's scans.

Yes, most AVs have some sort of way to do that. But you know, since the heuristics is so unreliable, it's better not to have it at all...imho...
