What is the bitrate of the tracks rendered in the project, and how do you set it?
Only option I found is marking the "input" arrow, and there you can set bit rate. But isnt that just conserning recording from input?

Its strange I didnt think of this before  It was brought to my atention, when I felt that the rendered clips had remarcable less audio quality, then the original midi/vsti clip.

:?: :?: :?:

it's 16bit  - Jules once wrote that he always considered the track-rendering as being a 'quick and dirty'-solution... :?

Er.. Jules? fix it! :P
It should be an option to select bit rate!

Well, then I have to export an import, as a workaround, its ok for now. Thow I was just gettin used to the quick and dirty thing, it fitted so well with my little cpu!

16 bit is fine so long as the signal is loud enough. You have to make sure there's no clipping. Only the master output clips during playback, but when rendering a track that goes above 0db on the track level meter you'll get a clipped waveform.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

yes, I know, but I swear I can hear that its getting lesser quality. the "air" and room feeling, and crispiness disapairs, its a clearly difference to my airs, anyhow. On one song I tried rendering all the tracks, and the resoulting sound was crap, compared to the original midi/vsti. thank god I kept the un-rendered tracks. I dont like to go 44/16 before final master to cd.

I hope he fix this before 2.0, because on smal cpus, its a blessing!

Oh wow, that is a really lame one right there! I always when finishing a track like to make sure the entire track is 24 bit wave or aiff. I have finished little in Tracktion but did notice the sound of the finished Tracktion track I do have is not up to par (very slight but noticable) sound quality wise to others. Tracktion definitly should definitly have somewhere in the settings page a little box that asks you if you want to freeze a track at 24 or 16 bit and if you want to render a track at 24 or 16 bit. That is pretty silly, this is the type of shat the makes me not take tracktion serously sometimes as a main DAW.

The freeze bit-rate isn't selectable.
The render bit-rate IS selectable.

Post

huh.....so my audio card is set to 24 bit and 48000 sample rate does that mean both frozen and rendered tracks are the same?

Post

You set the bit-rate of a rendered file in the dialog box before it is rendered. It has nothing to do with your soundcard.

Post

PT what pop up box!?! I am on MAC OSX and when you render a track there is no pop up box regarding the bit rate of the rendered track.

Can somone please tell me what bit rate rendered tracks are as default? It is set to your audio cards output like the jules quote indicates? There is definitly no option to select the bit rate of a rendered track PT.

Also what is the default bit rate of a frozen track????

Post

PT I think you are referring to the exporting an entire song not just indivdual track rendering.
