I found that notes showing on all Melda plugins in my computer shows WRONG names, one octave higher than it should be. For example, Mmultianalyzer tells me that A1 = 110 hz and not 55 hz.
Im totally confused by this... *bug*?

...I had the same "issue" awhile back and the gist of the discussion was on the actual lack of a standard for naming the various octaves...the only "constant" was that A440 was found about "Middle C"...this led to a suggestion/request that the naming of "Middle C" could/would be set as a global value for all the plugs...would be very helpful in my situation.../s~

Thanks, now I understand the "situation"... i can't believe that MeldaProduction doesn't include a global set for changing middle C with their "obsession" with numbers/analytics.

Yeah, there's no standard. Middle C is often labeled C3 or C4 from one program to the next
"musician."

The videos are probably made with some ancient version. I remember someone at some point pointed out that the numbering isn't consistent in the plugins, so there were some changes. Anyways there's no standard out there and I don't think it's a big deal really anyway

Not a huge deal perhaps but it would help (me) if note 'names' were consistent in all the software I use. Given that the is no, and never will be, a universal standard the only real solution is to allow a global setting "octave name display offset".

...not a big deal really, but a "workflow" thingy...and in my world, I try to make my tools simple/easy/consistent...both lpx and reaper allow for a global setting for the nomenclature of the various octaves...acknowledging the lack of any accepted standard I suppose...(sigh).../s~

Nope. Middle C is the C that falls in the middle between bass and treble in the grand staff, in the 4th octave, hence C4 in scientific pitch notation. It is also the fourth C (closest to the middle) on the piano keyboard. Middle C, C4.jmg8 wrote:I think its right. Middle C is C3 and concert pitch is A3 = 440hz.
So A2 would be 220hz and A1 = 110hz
MIDI has 128 notes for the piano's 88. If you map these 128 notes symmetrically so that A0 = MIDI note 21, note number 60 lands on.... middle C, aka C4.
However, some famous Yapanese synth makers decided to name their MIDI note octaves starting from C-2 (C minus two), which results in the first C on piano keyboard (commonly known as C1, since it starts the octave above A0, the first key) being misnomed as C0, and the middle C becoming C3. Why they chose this is mystery, but it is not any kind of standard- mostly because it makes no sense.
