How can I use/test 2 MIDI keyboard for different instruments?

I try to set 2 instrument and 2 MIDI keyboards to control individual instrument.

This is what I did:
- select both MIDI keyboards
- select two instruments

Image

- then for each instument right-click and seclet Channel 1 for the first, and 2 for the second instrument

Image
Image

- then in Project > Edit MIDIs I tried to assign both channels as see,
of course one for first instrument, another for second instrument.

It is not working.

Both my keyboards control the same last focused instrument only

I thought it is because demo version? Or Did I something wrong?

MuLab Free / demo and MuLab Unlimited are functionally the same.
The only difference is that if you cross one of the limits of MuLab Free, there will regularly be a soft noise in the audio output.
More info here: http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/ ... sions.html

Please see the info on "Edit MIDI Input Channel Targets" on http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/main-menu.html

Does that help?

Post

No it did not help yet.

I don't want to use one module with multiplied tracks.
I want to use 2 tracks with 2 modules, and control each of them from single MIDI input selected.

Please point me in the last screenshot above, what should I select in this case?

And what's the feature when I select MIDI's Channel 1 or 2 in each modelue after right-click for popupmenu (3th screenshot above).

What's differnet between: Input Port 1 for MIDI - and MIDI Channel 1 ?
And how to correctly define that my Port 1 i used as Channel 1 and it controls only one selected instrument (module?).

... I use the same hardware with another software and both MIDI keyboards control different instuments separately, very well and easy. Just I selected for each particual instument (VST) which hardware MIDI (USB port) should control it. I suppose there MIDI port = MIDI Channel by default. I think your software concept for: port > channel > module is fine, and useful for the future more advance MIDI using, but how to connect MIDI port with Channel? ANd then with instrument.

Post

Note that MuLab merges all MIDI input ports together so there is no difference between MIDI input port A chan 1 and MIDI input port B chan 1. You can connect up to 8 MIDI input ports, but they act as 1 input port with 16 channels. (NB: That's only for MIDI input, not MIDI output) If you want to control different plugin modules from different MIDI keyboards (MIDI input ports) then make sure you use different channels. So even if the MIDI input ports are merged you can still use up to 16 keyboards / MIDI controllers. Does this help?

OK. So how can I define (where in your software) that: for example my MIDI in port 1 I want to use as MIDI in channel 1 ? And another MIDI in port 2 - I want to use as Channel 2... or whatever any other number of channel? 11?

What did I wrong in the last screenshot?

Why 8 MIDI hardware split in 16 Channels?

I'm sorry but i don't clearly understand your questions, i assume because of the language translation barrier. From what i understand you simply need to define things in the Project menu -> Edit MIDI Input Channel Targets. At the left side choose an input channel (again, there is no option to define a MIDI input port as all input ports are merged) at the right side you select what target plugin module that input channel must play, cfr the info on "Edit MIDI Input Channel Targets" on http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/main-menu.html

Ok. Finally I figured it.

This is what I set:

Image

Stange: on the right side I had to write "1" and "2" manually, althrough that inputs do not allow me to write nothing more than numbers - it could be just selector of number.

And: from the list of modules I had to select specially this on in blue.

What's important! I had to set MIDI Channel of each keyboard outside MUlab.
In MIDI drivers settings selected for particular MIDI IN hardware/driver.

...anyway, so many steps for such simple (basic) purposes.

Thanks for suggestions.

That's not necessary as these are MUX instruments that do not depend on a MIDI channel, or in other words they're in Omni mode.

That's not necessary either, selecting the rack should be enough to play notes to that MUX synth.

It should not be as many steps as you listed here. Maybe there still is something to be finetuned in your understanding/usage of this? I'm sorry but it's difficult to understand/support each users individual workflow. I hope the info i gave will give you enough insight to experiment further and see how you can tweak MuLab to match your needs.
