Long time Tracktion user (since the beginning)
Recently made the move to Mac full time and I am having issues with a couple of Waves plugins. I can't pinpoint exactly when and where but most recently they involved the Schepps 73 and Kramer HLS Channel. I also had it happen with my V-Comp as well. When I add them a horrible crackling sound happens and channels go into red. If I delete them it goes away but one project that it happened too, once I closed the project it would never let me open it and it would crash T7 every time so I was never able to go into the project to try to delete the plugs.
One other issue I've had a few times was when closing a project there would be a sound as if the project was playing but at very fast speed.
FWIW..the CPU meter, even while the crackling is going on never got above 20% to 25%. It's a relatively new macbook pro with an i7 CPU and 16g of Ram.
Shouldn't be a computer issue.
I'm sticking with the Mac and I've been using these plugins for a few years and have favorite uses of them so I'm not ready to stop using them. Please tell me that waves work fine with T7 on a Mac.

If you can't open the project at all, try this - but don't tell anyone I told you. The project edit files (.tracktionedit) are in XML format, so you can edit them with a text editor. Before you do, make a copy of your edit file first, just in case.
What you're looking for is a set of tags like these:
<FILTER type="vst" uid="414e5359" filename="C:\Program Files\vstplugins\Analog Synth (64-bit).dll"
name="Analog Synth (64-bit)" manufacturer="Tracktion Software Corporation"
id="0/36611b6f" windowX="80" windowY="103" windowLocked="0" programNum="35"
state="1259....
I've omitted the rest of the data for this one,as there's rather a lot if it. I suspect the data is MIDI, but it might not be. If your bothersome plug-in is an effects one, you might not have much in the state= parameter. You could try replacing the ones causing you problems with ones that are okay. Have a play, but remember the backup you made; if things get bad, copy it over the edit file and try again. I'd change one at a time and then try re-opening, before replacing more.
If all else fails, it looks like it's safe to delete a <FILTER all the way to the subsequent /> closing tag.

I have had many of these kind of issues but I have noticed that it is something with the latest update. I don't know how to write codes, but I notice this to help me save edits when having these kind of troubles at the end or in the middle of a edit. This is my method. I have the First Tracktion (7.0.26 32bit and 64bit) in there Tracktion default folders and then I made a 32bit and 64bit Tracktion 7 beta folder and renamed the Tracktion latest download (7.1.11) to "Tracktion 7 32xbeta" and "Tracktion 64xbeta" and installed them so I have the first and last version always on my computer so on my mac I just renamed it to "Tracktion 7 beta" and installed it no need to make the beta folders. the only thing the first version Lfo's don't work on my systems and I adapted to some of the latest updates. but when I have these kind of plugin issues I always go back to 7.0.26 to tackle the problem even if that mean render the track so I can delete the plugin with the problem. I hope this hope or even better you solved it already

As to @Jabe ..I actually went into the project folder and copied out the .wav files and inserted them into a new project. It was only for a quick demo so I've moved on from that problem.
@ lay it productions... I may try that but I'm wondering if this is going to be an ongoing issue ....will it ever be fixed. Since this isn't the busiest forum I can't tell if a lot of people are having the same issues or not and for what it's worth...I'm about to get into the Slate plugins based on some very good recommendations and I wonder how they will fare? Doing a search produced mostly people with problems.
I actually bought Logic about 6 months ago but went right back to T6 (now T7) only because of familiarity and maybe laziness. I don't know ...maybe time for a change?
Not complaining or putting down Tracktion. I've used it for many years and I have some serious fanboy love for it. I just need a very fast, simple solution without these latest issues.I'm getting too old and cranky to deal with them.

I wish I can help have the 5.2 waves platinum bundle but I never had the waves best shell so it only works in my pro tools 8 so I would need the old vst
Shell 5.3 the highest not the new one 9.0 and up And my pro tools been having some fatal error message every time I try to open it so I have not used waves for about 2 years now
