Traktion 6 "treat as stereo pair" not functioning

Hi, I started using Traktion 6 just a few weeks ago and, initially, after recording 3 song mixes in stereo, everything was recording fine. yesterday, i went to lay a track but i am only getting a signal on the "left channel" on the T6 "input" signal and naturally, the "end mix". I don't have any idea what could have caused this. i purchased a Xenyx X1222USB mixer and am using it with the T6. The Xenyx X1222USB mixer display shows a stereo signal "send". but when sending the "stereo signal" to the T6 "assigned track", i only get the left channel signal on the monitor. The right channel shows no signal at all as shown in the photo. the previously recorded "tracks" still show "left and right" channels functioning as before when reviewing them. but if i try to go back and add a track onto one of them, i still have the same problem....only the left input signal. I've tried the "reset audio settings" on the settings page and clicked both boxes for input and output resets. Still no change. Please help.
Thanks
Ernest T

The first thing I'd try is separating the inputs to two mono ones, and trying to record on the right channel. Also, could it be that you have a stereo plug/socket that needs a bit of wiggling to make it work properly?
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Start with Pournelle's Law "When something doesn't work, always check the cables and their connectors first."
Then check all your mixer panning settings, and mute/solo buttons. If you can configure sending channels to some other bus than the main stereo out, check that, too.
Also, check what's actually on the main mix, via the headphones socket or main outs.
(BTW, From your post, it sounds like there should be an image included, but there isnt one.)

ok thanks guys. i called myself checking the cables. being an "old school", i'm thinking there must a setting some where i'm not knowledgeable enough to figure out. will try all of your suggestions as soon a i get back to the house. will let you know what i found. i'll work on that photo too..LOL. thanks again.

ok guys, jabe, i've double checked the cables. to me, i don't find any problem. i have "stereo return" still through the T6 via the main headphones out on the mixer on "previously recorded" stereo tracks. i ran a "mono check mix" on both right and left channels. the left channel is clear as a bell. however, when i pan to the right it is a "very diminished" signal. i have to turn the gain up extensively to even get a signal on the right channel on the T6 input meter on my computer screen. don't know if that's just "bleed over" from inside the mixer or an input in the T6 program itself not functioning properly. I've also "removed and reloaded" the T6 program itself onto my computer and, unfortunately, still have the same result....no "right channel" when activating the "treat as stereo channel pair" selection to record on the input channel of T6.
whyterabbyt: all the pan settings on the mixer are accurate as far as i can see. as i mentioned, the mixer even shows a "left and right channel" signal is being sent to the T6 program. i get stereo playback as well with precorded tracks that i've made, as well as "general music audio tracks" plugged into stereo channels 9/10 on the mixer itself. currently, i'm using the stereo "main out headphone jack" on the mixer itself (tip, ring, sleeve adaptor to my headphone 3.5mm headphone jack). While i am using the "usb signal cable" that came with the mixer, i do not know of any way, as you suggest, to configure an "alternate buss" from the mixer to the computer itself to allow the computer program, T6, to process the left and right signal respectively.
here is a link to what i see during a recording session on the input, track 1. as you see, there is only the left channel recieving signal, even though i have the "treat as stereo channel pair" selected. let me know if you can access it. Thanks. https://us-mg6.mail.yahoo.com/ya/downlo ... hooMailNeo

for good measure, i hooked up my pa system to the board to verify that both left and right channels from the board are sending both left and right channels. all is ok. i can pan the channels off the mixer with no problems in signal loss.

Are you using ASIO to record, or which audio interface is selected for tracktion? (i.e. directsound) ?

just tried the "direct sound". not sure really what the parameters are for selecting it but i still get a diminished level on the right channel. the left channel seems to work like it should. like before, the ASIO selection gave me no connection options. "Windows Audio" and "Windows Audio (Exclusive Mode)", both, have the same malfunction with the right channel.

I'd say the next step is reinstalling the drivers, and after that, testing on a different computer if possible (borrow a laptop off an obliging mate, if youve only got the one). If the problem persists, i'd be suspecting the hardware is faulty.Ernest T wrote:just tried the "direct sound". not sure really what the parameters are for selecting it but i still get a diminished level on the right channel. the left channel seems to work like it should. like before, the ASIO selection gave me no connection options. Yes, I'd be thinking of trying something else, to verify that the USB is functioning properly between the mixer and the laptop. try running something like Audacity - just barebones stereo recording, to see if the levels come in properly over USB. If the mixer has a button to select what mode the USB works under (i.e. master mix, or auxiliary bus, or whatever), try bouncing that, in case there's a bad connection internal to the mixer...?

thanks for the continued suggestions. i've "proofed" the drivers on my pc, downloaded T6 on my other laptop, exchanged the codec cable between the mixer and the laptop, and i still have the problem with no right channel. after looking again at my "SETTINGS" tab in the T6, I see now that I have "1+2" Enabled "output channels" but only 1 - Enabled "input channel". When i click to "treat as channel pair, I get a "1+" reading on the "input display entry". So, i'm assuming the "left channel" is the "DEFAULT" when there is only "1 input channel" available. Geez, i'm thinking that there is where my problem is. the mixer is virtually new, it can't be the cables, and i'm sure being the "old school" beginner that i am, i have somehow messed up or deleted the number of "input settings". i watched a you-tube vid this morning where someone was talking about using an "interface" to achieve required number of "inputs" into T6. but i am almost positive that i would have had to have that already "before" i created this problem "without using an interface". how else would i be able to record stereo before? so, i'm sorta stuck now at trying to learn to create inputs inside the "T6" environment. Old dog gotta learn some new tricks..LOL...any quick step by step procedure to do so by someone would be helpful. in the meantime i'll be researching.....I really appreciate all of your help.

Can you provide a screengrab of the ASIO page of your audio device settings?

this is what i'm currently showing. when i select the "Direct Sound" audio device option, i'm just noticing that the 1 and 2 input channels are acknowledged which i assume now is coming from the mixer "main outs". https://us-mg6.mail.yahoo.com/ya/downlo ... hooMailNeo

this photo link is when i select the "Direct Sound" audio device option. as you can see, it shows 2 inputs activated. only problem is that i had never used it before. i will give it a shot in a "session" recording later this afternoon and see what happens. https://us-mg6.mail.yahoo.com/ya/downlo ... hooMailNeo
