Hi,
I read on another forum that you can set up MEqualizer so that the band frequency tracks the MIDI note value. I downloaded it but just can't see how to do this - can anyone give me a hint?

You'll need to use some other plugin/effect to control the frequency of a band in MEqualizer using this mathematical function: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 8&t=463085
Your daw probably doesn't allow this with internal effects so you'll have to use midi plugins like Reajs and Protoplug. So you'll have to do a bit of programming.
MDynamicEq and the like (paid) can track the note from audio.

Actually pone is talking about a pitch detector for input audio. But the op asked for MIDI, that's easy enough, just click the MIDI button and set a Note controller. Some tutorial:
