Is it me or is it impossible to set this to simply show a single or double cycle of a wave? When I've used oscilloscopes in electronics, they show and hold the waveform as though a static wave. MuX's shows a constantly moving wave. It would be useful to have the ability to see the static wave produced when editing sounds.

Could you please add this to your todo list? If your unsure what I mean, take a look at the Korg Minilogue/Monologue.

Have you tried to connect the oscilloscope event input?
if the oscilloscope receives input notes the waveform should look static like in this video,

Thanks for the reply Taifunk. Yes I have tried that and various timings, still I can't get what you have.

You're welcome sl23
Try with a setup like the attached example,
open the project and look at the patch,in modular area you can replace the musynth with another synth, hope it helps:)

OK I'll give that a go when I get home. Just a quick question though, is it important where I'm the modular system that you place it? It can't be placed inside the polysynth. I have it in one synth where oscillators, filter, oscilloscope, etc are all at same modular level. Does it make a difference?

Post

No difference if you play a note at a time (e.g. C4,A4 etc.)you can connect the oscilloscope to the output of polysynth no problem,if the wave seems unstable, try playing a different note but always one at a time,
the important thing is that oscilloscope event input is connected, so when you play a note the signal is reset and you have stable wave to work.
Another trick to have a wave even more stable> open the oscillator layer setting and set the start phase from free to 0

EDIT:
I forgot, if you intend to use the oscilloscope to see only the clean waveform >connect the oscilloscope directly to the output of the oscillator, otherwise turn off the filters or effects and set the amplifier envelope to have a constant sustained note without attack and decay when you play a note.

I've Just checked your Oscilloscope Test project and that's exactly what I'm trying to achieve.
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong? The Scope settings in my mux are the same as yours, so I'm completely at a loss as to the cause?

To see what I mean, check this out...

You may remember you helped with this one too
I just can't see what's wrong here?

Thanks for your help

Sure, I remember :tu:
Ok,I modified your patch
I added an audio output to polisynth>connected to the oscilloscope,
so you have a constant stable waveform, because the signal comes directly after the filter without being altered by envelope.
The issue was in the oscillator 3 Layer setting in your patch,
the oscillator is in unison mode, then it is slightly detuned and causes continuous movement,
I changed the setting and now the wave is stable but note that sounds different.

Ah! It was the Unison setting giving me grief eh? Damn thing was driving me nuts!

Thank you again for your invaluable help :tu:

EDIT: On checking your Mux out, it seems that the extra output made a great difference to the output volume to the scope, cheers!

No problem :tu: :)
