Fading in and Out

How do you fade in and out in a clip?

If you click on the clip, you'll see small white boxes at each side, outlined in black, with a black diagonal line through them. Move them inwards. As you do that, you'll see values changing in the second column of the Properties panel, so you can set the values manually in there if you wish (or do it all in the Properties panel if you prefer). Under the Fade In and Fade Out values, there are eight icons for you to set the shape of the fades.
