mulab will only allow me to play on the first beat of each measure when using my midi keyboard

I'm using focusrite 2i2 (usb interface)
minilab mkll arturia (midi)

all channels are connected, I can hear everything through the monitor, it's just when i hit record, everything only plays on the first beat of each measure.

how do i fix this?

Right-click the record button and select "Edit Recording Setup". This pops up the "Event Recording Setup" panel. One of the settings is "Event Recording Grid". Set this to the value you want, e.g. "No Grid".

Also note the sequence editor and composer both have their own "Snap to" values, set at the lower right of the display.
