Tracktion and Novation Remote 25 - Anyone?2004-06-28T17:28:28+00:00Just wondering if it is possible to use the transport buttons of the Remote25 with Tracktion? Or are they pre-assigend to work only with those "big-players" (Cubase, Logic, Sonar) ???
(Not bought, yet - still looking for a new toy!)

I use the Novation Remote 25 with Tracktion. They are both excellent tools and work very well together... add a powerbook and you have the best portable recording rig available.
However, Tracktion does not support any midi controllers including the Remote 25. Others have posted on this board that this feature will be available in the upcoming release but I don't think there has been official word as to whether generic controllers will be supported (i.e. MMC messages of the Novation) or just Mackie controllers.
Anyway, I still highly recommend the Novation. It has some very well thought out features:
1) Powered by USB and/or battery for a completely mobile rig (batteries optionally charge when plugged in to USB).
2) The "Me" control. A simple blend control to balance recorded and live sound.
3) Rugged housing.
4) Effects can be bypassed, heard but not recorded, or heard and recorded.
5) Midgrade but useful synth sounds.
6) Built in mic/line inputs with preamp and phantom power.
7) Rock solid drivers (at least on mac).
I have absolutely no idea how they accomplish this on USB power alone. Amazing!
Yeah - in the meantime i found out, that the transport functions are closely connected to the MMC functions... too bad.
And yes - I realized that you own the "audio"-version of the Remote 25. But the price is heavy... other competitors out there ask for half the price (midi and audio combi)! And I don't need those extra-functionality like FX and an included VA-synth.
I'll keep an eye on it - it's very tempting!
But maybe I'll make my final decision, when the Egosys Firewire solution (A.On) is available.
