TDR Nova GE Sidechain question (esp. as regards automation) in Pro Tools (& maybe others)

Hi,

I have a question about Sidechain with respect to:

1) Automation
-- if I enable (e.g. for Band 1) the following parameters:
Band SC 1 Q
Band 1 SC Frequency

... what happens is that when the "SC Link" is enabled, then the SC Q & Freq parameters are following the filter Q & Freq parameters. This causes Pro Tools to go into automation record, even when only on playback, as I am guessing Nova is (under the hood) forcing these SC parameters to the filter values in realtime. This breaks the automation workflow, as you wind up almost always recording automation even during playback.

As a workaround for now, I disabled these automation parameters I mentioned above, and there is no issue -- I just leave the SC linked to the EQ bands at all times.

However...

2) If I use the "deresonate" function, Nova GE actually unlinks the EQ and SC bands, and sets the values differently. Which means using my workaround, the result is not useful for me in an automation scenario. I find this surprising that it unlinks the bands btw, as it doesn't exhibit this behavior in "Match Pink... Dynamic." In "Match Pink... Dynamic", the SC values seem to always be linked as far as I can tell.

Any thoughts about these behaviors?

I'm really impressed with this wonderful piece of work you guys have done!

Best,

-- madison
