Bitwig unusable at buffers lower than 1024 gfx related?

Lately I've been using bitwig on a few different i7 laptops and bigwig spikes make it unusable at buffers under 1024 unless I hide the gui and just display my desktop. If I show only my desktop I can run the same sessions at a buffer of 64. Also if I scroll in a browser its overload city. This is on a dell xps 7700hq based laptop wit pci ssd, 16g ram, gtx1050, 4k screen, win 10 with a rme babyface plugged in.

In a recent project which is very CPU hungry due to Softtube Modular,Vengeance Avenger,Massive,Maschine 2 + a lot FX on each Channel, I noticed that the graphics for the channel volume (meter displays) on my second monitor is laggy. I think the frames per second goes down. I tried to add a audio sidechain modulator to a fx (dont know which one) and when i decided which chanel input it should analyze the whole project was unplayable. I set my Motu Ultralite MK3 also to 1024 samples to get maximum power for the CPU but it still happens.
Maybe the new analyze displays in the fx of bitwig 2, which are great by the way, are cpu hungry. Would be cool to switch them off per device.
I use an AMD 8 x 4GHz CPU - 16 GB DDDR3 RAM - SSD Samsung EVO 850 250 GB - Radeon R9 Fury 3 GB - Motu Ultralite Mk3 via USB - Win 10
I think my graphics card got enough power to render some displays.

Umm, I wonder if that is OS-related. On Linux with a pretty old laptop (i5-2520M) I can push latency comfortably to 128 samples in the demo projects, however I am using a low-latency kernel. 64 samples is definitively a no-go here, no matter whether I minimize the UI or not (doesn't seems to have an effect).

It might be your display drivers. Did you do a DPC latency check? There was a tool also whose name can't remember right away, that let you run an analysis that shows on a driver by driver basis, which ones are causing the most DPC latency. But at least a basic DPC check app you can just google for.

Are you sing an external screen through a Displaylink dock? There's a driver problem with bitwig running on a second monitor in windows 10 with that kind of setup - for some reason windows driver foundation eats an extra 10-15% cpu on my machine doing this...

I have the same problem with CPU in Bitwig. Is completely unusable on my Macbook Pro i7 16GB RAM
the CPU spikes nonstop that you can even playback your small track with few VST and samples.
and the CPU spikes only when I have the app on TOP, but when I go to desktop then CPU behavior in Bitwig is normal (I see the DSP Graph).

I will try it at the weekend with only the main monitor activated. Drivers are up to date.
I have both Monitors directly connected to the graphics card. And the card is powerfull.

I set up a Vox recording session with only about 12 audio tracks 1 eq and 1 comp and couldnt work at 128 samples reliably. thats just garbag

The drivers are up to date, but they still might cause DPC latency, running the test would still be a good idea just to make sure that the latencies are acceptable. It's a different thing from the audio latency of the ASIO driver.

To all the guys having CPU spikes and glitches at low buffer size : Have you reported your problems to Bitwig team directly? The more requests they will get on the same issue the more chances they will fix it sooner.

Since the start of these discussion I have been running 2.1 on Linux with way lower latencies (128/256) and so far I think the behavior here corresponds to what my system should be able to do (note I use a RT kernel + the proper Real Time priorities for the audio stuff).
So I think it is safe to say that this is not an intrinsic problem to BW. External plugins are certainly more demanding, but so far I mainly use U-HE and my poor laptop seems to survive.

yes I reported it too,
but I think they have no idea how to remedy the CPU spikes or they dont take it serious, because it does not apply to all users...
PS. I have spikes even at 2048 buffer
