Hey,

with MMorph being on sale and you guys talking a lot lately about it, I thought I'd give it a try. I took my latest "melody" and tried different instruments for the sidechain input.
After messing around nearly an hour with MMorph I 1) do now hate this particular clip  and 2) thought I could get the same result with MVocoder. Turns out I can not exactly get the same result, but in the end I liked MVocoder a lot better than MMorph. Or at least with the special constallation of rhythm, instrument or whatever MVocoder worked better for me.

I do not understand nor did I read about how MMorph works but I guess there is also some kind of vocoder involved. What do you think? Is one of the two plugins enough? MVocoder is already in my list and I don't really see the necessity for both...

To me it also looks like a vocoder with ability to switch carrier/modulator relation. I'm also curious what is the difference between those two?

They work completely differently, but if you simplify it a lot, you might say that MMorph is based on vocoding in spectral domain. Anyways if you like MVocoder better, no problem with that. I think MVocoder sounds more "classic" or vintage, MMorph is more accurate and works quite differently, I personally like that one more, but they both have something special ;).

wow, that is quite revealing, but at the same time very useful! :o

Spectral processing can imprint specific artifacts in the sound, kinda metallic.
A normal vocoder won´t unless you use many bands.

Spectral morphing is cool with (more) similar sounds in my experience. So for example morph between a synth with a saw patch and a flute playing the same notes, modulate the morph with an lfo or envelope -> yummy
