Subject line says it all. On Linux, what are the avx.so files ?

Thanks.

.so files on Linux are usually shared libraries used by other bits of code, so probably a library for this stuff

That's neat if they can take advantage fo some CPU characteristics. So then, should one only use the AVX files and forget about the 64 when making symlinks ?

CPU is Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz.

Are the AVX files much better at performance than the plain 64 ? When selecting a synth in Bitwig, should one select only AVX synths ?

I'm moving all plugins from the user directory (which is not much used) to another 'standard' location on another drive so that nevertheless of the Linux distro being booted, always the same files will be used (eg. upgrades for instance).

I'm still using though a ~/.u-he (which is a symlink) and a ~/vst that I created a long time ago that now has only symlinks to this new location. I guess I could make do of these and have Bitwig going straight to the new location.

Nevertheless, should one only use AVX files ?
