Status of MPE support?

I see there are beginning to be some additions to MPE support such as Blocks support but details of what exactly this entails are not available. What exactly is the status of Tracktion's current support for all things MPE related including Blocks, Rise, and possibly other controllers like the LINN one and Qunexus?

We have essentially full support and have done for some months (I say "full" because we do assume that input instruments and plugins use the 'standard' channel 1 for global messages and 2-15 for note data).
To record to MPE, simply enable the "Record MPE to Note Expression" in the input device (for Seaboards this is enabled automatically). Per-channel expression data will then appear in the MIDI editor. You can view and edit this by enabling the "Show note expression" property with a MIDI clip selected.
To play back Note Expression as MPE, simply ensure the "MIDI channel mode" property of a MIDI clip is changed to "MPE". (again, this is enabled automatically if the "Record MPE to Note Expression" option was used to record a clip).
These should be the only options you need (perhaps along with an MPE synth or at least a multi-channel one such as Roli Equator or Strobe 2) to play back MPE.
We have some additional features for the Roli blocks which enable you to use a Lightpad Block as an XYZ Equator Pad and a Loop Block to correctly control transport and some view options of Waveform.

This is crucial information that just helped me out a lot! I was trying tracktion waveform for the first time ever last night because I own a seaboard rise (and have a seaboard block on the way soon, yay). I was able to audition Equator & Strobe 2 fine, and record data, but playback of recorded notes & expression data was not sending MPE midi to the plugins. After reading your post I worked out that for some reason the MIDI channel mode property of the clip was not automatically being set to MPE for me!dRowAudio wrote:To play back Note Expression as MPE, simply ensure the "MIDI channel mode" property of a MIDI clip is changed to "MPE". Perhaps Roli should add the info about midi clip playback mode to their guide:
https://support.roli.com/article/using- ... -waveform/
By the way, are they dragging the synth to the wrong place in one of their animated gifs in that guide? I'm brand new to waveform but I was under the impression it is usually better to drag a synth to the left of the volume & pan plugin but they are putting it on the right of it!?!
Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up. If you've recorded a MIDI clip with the "Record MPE to Note Expression" option turned on, the "MIDI Channel Mode" should automatically be set to "MPE".SteveElbows wrote:This is crucial information that just helped me out a lot! I've asked the Roli team to add a note to their support article explaining this so everyone is familiar with it.
Yes, you would usually have the volume/pan last in the signal chain but this isn't a hard restriction in Waveform. In fact, you can have multiple volume/pan plugins
