Hi, I'm trying to use the new Audio Dispatcher in Ableton Live. I have brought up the AD as a "Play FX" preset in a VST effect in Ableton and can use the screen keyboard to change the effect easily while playing the track. I cannot work out how to automate or sequence the key change effects using either a dedicated midi track or (less preferably) an automation lane.
Dumb I know as this must be the essence of using MUX as a VST in any DAW, but I can't work it out.
Thanks

It should be as simple as sending audio as well as MIDI notes to MUX VST. The audio is processed thru the selected effects, the MIDI notes select the effect. Live can send audio & MIDI notes at the same time to a VST plugin, right?

Hi Jo, I don't think you can send midi notes to an effect, only an instrument in Ableton. Of course I have set the Audio dispatcher in the Ableton chain as an effect. I need to work out if I can configure it as an instrument and route the desired audio through it as an effect. Hmmmm!

You can send midi to an effect: (From another discussion, not related to Mux)

Synth on the far right is the audio source, midi track is the midi source,
both directed at the audio track containing RIBS.

Substitute Mux for the RIBS plugin on the audio track as pictured.

Hi pekbro,
Thanks for that. I checked it out and works fine for audio tracks. Refining it for a midi instrument, it was easier to direct the output of that instrument to a MUX midi instrument loaded with the 'Play FX' preset. The latter can be controlled as a midi instrument as normal and the audio output is the original instrument with the MUX effect added. Et voila!
Many thanks for your help.
Cheers
