Feature Request for Devs

Hi Devs,

Would it be possible to add a stop function on the marker bar, we have a need like a lot of other bands to play a track and have it stop automatically, if it could be included on the marker line that would be excellent. At the moment we have to press the space bar then the = to line up the next track, then the space bar again. The danger for me is a lot of the time I am busy with the mixer or lighting controllers.. my experience of Tracktion 7 is generally exceptional apart from that one missing feature which makes live playback really interesting sometimes. thanks in advance for any consideration you could give to this urgent issue.

Alternatively does anyone know of a DAW that has this feature apart from Ableton Live.. tried that but hated the interface.. but may have to persevere with it if Tracktion cannot be sorted with a hack somehow.

Like the loop function but no in a continuous loop? it may be usable for me too.

Yeah.. just a stop marker or macro type thing that does the same as pressing the space bar.

Is this simple or am I

Triggering macros at specific times it something I would like to add but it's not exactly trivial. There's lots of edge cases to be figured out.

This has been requested a few times and I've now added it to our list of features to be discussed when we next have a feature meeting. It's probably not too difficult to add but will need to fit in to the other things we have going on at the moment.

Having lots of people request or upvote a feature is a good way to bump it up the priority list though...

Hey There.

Sorry if I sounded that I was trivialising your honestly great work, I truly wasnt, I was just talking from a dumb view point of what I thought was an easy addon...Sorry. :(

Thanks very much for including it in a discussion at least, very appreciated. not sure what "edge cases" are but Im confident that you have already looked at the issue/request many times before and identified these.

Wish I could get it upvoted but I fear I dont know enough people whom, like me, really are that passionate about Tracktion 7 to help me out enough to make a difference, band members can be so lazy at times and "Hey! why should they" would be their response to me as they dont see it as their problem.. LOL my problem is is that it really is their problem when they look like muppets due to me having so much to do that the track rolls into the next one and "Oh Dear" terminal embarrasment for them...

If the issue could be sorted I for one would be eternally grateful for this and it would make Tracktion perfect for us....

Thanks for taking the time to reply anyway, fingers crossed tightly here. :phones:

BTW... We use a Behringer XR18 as our main mixer, the control software for this is on the same laptop as Tracktion 7, I just flit between screens to see whats going on and do adjustments, with a live band, Im sure you know, the focus is on the mixer levels and therein lies the danger of not getting back to tracktion or forgetting to go back to it to stop the track from rolling into the next tracks. As a small band I also have to take care of the DMX lighting controller...so lots going on all the time.

We have about 50 songs lined up on an average gig, all on the same timeline. I put a marker at the start of each song and then use Space bar/=/space bar.

Tracktion 7 is used through a Focusrite 6i6 into the XR18 so thats a stereo feed as a backing track into FOH and two seperate click tracks, one for vocals and one for our keys guy into IEM's. the system works very well indeed. We also use Tracktion 7 as our recording center direct from the 18/18 usb interface on the XR18 with 6 tracks recording all night (approx 3 hours), I just set it recording and forget it..Its brill :-)

We are just a small amateur local band but its getting complicated trying to simplify things. :-)

This is a clip from a track I captured using Tracktion 7...no effects no processing just live capturing... what more could you ask for. Excellent!!!!

Cheers.
