To be honest, I don´t know anymore, where to start and where to stop... there is simply too much...

- Open the attached test project
- open the midi clip in an DETACHED midi editor
- add a G4 after the last note in the clip
- Shift select the notes from D4 to the last G4
- Hold Shift and press the arrow down key on your keyboard and watch your self added note (Shift+ arrow down in my standard installation is selected for the command: Nudge selected clips down)

Number 2:

Rightclicking on the backround of an detached midi editor still shows, that escape deselects all notes...
Hit escape with an detached midi editor open and watch yourself what happens... :-)

One could say, hey it works... closing the window deselects everything as well...

Quite sure there´s more to come...

I just tried this. Are you sure it's still happening with 8.2.5? Select, shift and shift+arrows seems to work as expected?

Hmm, I see what you mean here. The problem is that esc is also commonly used to close windows, we use it in dozens of other places in the app. It would be odd if it didn't close the window here too.

The most obvious answer would be to use a different keyboard command to deselect notes in the detached MIDI editor but then it wouldn't be consistent with the rest of the app (where esc deselects all).

We'll have to have a thing about this...

Sorry, happens nonetheless
Important is, that you got the midi editor detached before...
Even more important: The last note must have been selected before and you add the other notes with shift+lasso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My suggestion at this point would be: don't do that. :)

Why are you selecting one note, then selecting the rest in a group, instead of just selecting the whole group?

That being said, following your instructions exactly, I'm not seeing this behavior on my machine (8.25, OSX Sierra).
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 4.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Radeon Pro 580 8 GB
Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen
Waveform 11 Pro/Studio One Pro 3.5

Thanks for the video, it seems the notes that were lassoed twice were getting shifted twice. This will be fixed in the next release.
