I‘m tempted by MFM2 but I‘m unsure about it…

JRR does not sell it anymore.
I read somewhere that it shall be updated, but don‘t see any info about timing and no info about a kind of upgrade grace period.

So my question is:
Shall I buy it now or shall I wait?
Opinions?

You can do no wrong with any u-he product. :)

If you like it, buy it for what it is today and nothing more. I doubt there will be a version 3 anytime soon (first is RePro-5, then Zebra 2.8, then updating the browser in the rest of the product line, with Zebra 3 being a huge priority - but then again, who knows what's happening elsewhere in U-he land).

But, if there ever is an update, U-he have historically been very good about doing right by existing customers through either free updates or very, very deep discounts. If you bought now and there was a major update later on, I don't think you'd be kicking yourself for not just waiting.

Might not be version 3 soon, but there's been talks about a refreshed skin (which is most welcome, always). I'm using the Spaced Out skin, with a few tweaks of my own. This is the best upgrade for MFM2 currently available, IMHO :)

MFM2 is really good. I'm honestly not sure what else could be imagined for a delay plugin. Chances are you'll never fully use what it's capable of.

That said, I never have cared much for it's interface--interesting and creative as it is. It's just not intuitive to me.

So ... one of the biggest and perhaps most underrated features of U-he plugins come to my rescue; community skinning.

EvilDragon's suggestion:

Unfortunately, the above skin is the only alternate skin for MFM2 that I know of, but it's a really good for me.

My tweak of that skin actually implements the keyboard, which the original Spaced Out skin misses.

Our internal builds have a granular pitch shifter in the FeedbackFX section (the one below the feedback matrix). It's the same algorithm which is at the heart of Uhbik-G, with just grain size and pitch multiplier controls. Does the reverse audio trick of course.

Sounds all pretty good, thanks!

It's not a super high priority though... waiting for the preset browser to be finalized, then waiting for the redesign to shape up.

Just watched this and was unaware til now of the depth and superb concept behind this thing! Especially love how it can use cutoff and feedback to generate melodic content!

I'm so looking forward to the granular stuff from Uhbik-G in there!

Ahh. Cool!

I rarely use granular shift, as it sounds very artificial to me. Although, Uhbik-G does sound very nice as compared to some pedals, etc. Nice to know it may be offered in future MFM builds.

If you do buy MFM2, you'll be getting one of the best delay plugins that are around from anyone. I am sure there are very few things you can possibly imagine to do with a delay, that you wouldn't be able to do with it, thanks to its very modular architecture.Seems to me, your imagination would be the only limiting factor.

Impressive stuff, this MFM! I'd almost rather have this in a u-he synth than a sequencer!

Can I request undo/redo buttons? And a more spacious browser window? When you get around to it, no rush. :)
