Exactly. We started building our own modular DAW back in the '90s, mostly to be used in my music. Later on, we started developing VST plugins under the name WWAYM. We finally lost interest in the project during porting plugins to OSX (we had our plugins running on PPC Macs when the switch to Intel happened) and found ourselves doing bug fixes and maintenance instead of R&D and real development (that we love to do). We did not maintain even our own DAW further, since the code became pretty much legacy, and was a bit slow: it was developed in Delphi.
We stopped development around 2007. For my music, I've started using regular DAW's and 3rd party plugins, but always missed the workflow I was used to (to build everything from scratch), so we got back to development in 2014 when we had the first build of our modular VSTi. We knew already what it means to develop a modular instrument from experience, and it was not a question, that such projects never feel complete: hence the name, Alpha Forever. It was just a project name, but we really liked it and kept it also when the decision to release the software was made.

Here's a new one: this time I'm building a waveshaper. Distortion was asked many times before, but I was always waiting for the 'Custom function' node to appear in my toolkit, so the time has come to cover this topic.

The video is time-stamped and I hope, it'll be fun to watch. If you have any questions/advice on what topics to cover, or what you're interested in... just let me know!

Thanks, by the way, for the videos coming in regularly. I missed that.

I'm glad, you like the videos. It looks like, this simple/quick format can fit into my life with a frequency of 1-2 videos/week. I'll do everything to keep them coming!ralfrobert wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 3:20 pm Thanks, by the way, for the videos coming in regularly. I missed that.
(Note: the reason I'm not sharing the patches is that I'm using the newest build that is not compatible with the official release - so the patches would not work for you... anyways, my goal with these videos is to give some ideas and share know-how)
