I'm really enjoying Waveform, it's the first DAW that was easy enough on approach to get myself into digital audio.

When doing voiceover, to be safe I use edge fade on literally every clip and punch so the editing is astransparent as possible...

in fact, I use it a lot more than I use crossfade, so I'm looking for a way to remap the default 'x' key as such.

However there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this; I've had a look through the guide and I think I'm going to need to use the Macro or Script editor, but I've got no idea how to go about it.

Thanks for any help

Sorry, I'm not in front of my computer right now but I'm pretty sure you can set that as Default on the Settings Tab.

The default you can set is for auto crossfade when you drag two clips over one another within the same track. I'm looking for something that does the same function as apply edge fade in the inspector when a clip is selected. Regardless of what is going on around it, or even if there is a single track, I use edge fades to make sure there is no popping when there is only the one clip going on, and in empty spaces there is no audio, and then suddenly the audio is present at the DC offset/noise floor.
