DAW copy protection list

Audio Plugin Hosts and other audio software applications discussion

Post

Do we have a list of active DAWs with copy protection type and system compatibility somewhere? I'm looking to figure, what are the options for Win7, that do not require CR / online activation or a dongle.
What I know, often home pages are very blurry about it:

Bitwig : Win 7+, CR (?)
Cubase : Win 7+ 64, dongle + CR
Cubase Elements: Win 7+, CR
Digital Performer : Win 7+, CR
FL Studio : Win XP+, registry key
Live : Win 7+, CR
Mixbus : WinXP+, license file
Mixcraft : Win XP+, serial
Mulab : Win XP+, license file
Samplitude : Win 7+, CR
Studio One : Win 7+, CR (?)
Reaper : Win XP+, serial
Waveform : Win 7+, CR

Got it right? What am I missing?

Not that i care much about copy protections, but... Reaper uses a simple serial to activate the unrestricted version, IIRC. That, and a time check when you use the trial, of course.

Mixbus : WinXP+, license file

Thanks.

The KVR page for the software itself lists this stuff:

Or, am I missing something with regard to your intention/list?

Yes, KVR database lists cp scheme, but not for all products.

Dongle sucks!

If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

i prefer to have everything on a dongle too but it can be a pain if something happens to it

 the funny part is that I'm serious. I rebuilt my computer about 8 months ago and had to reauth everything. It was a F"n nightmare for some stuff. iLok and Steinberg Dongle stuff, I didn't have to do anything but install the software.

Please, no dongle fight. Just verify cp schemes.

Cubase Artist and Pro require a dongle, Cubase Elements doesn't.

Mixcraft uses a simple email address/serial number activation scheme (no hardware C/R).

Thanks. I assume Cubase Elements is using soft elicencer like Wavelab Elements, I guess it qualifies as a kind of CR.
