I've recently started using Triple Cheese on my desktop running Linux Mint 18 with 4.4.0-101-lowlatency kernel.
Works fine, apart from the fact that the GUI is attached to the root window instead of the GUI window, and hence
it is fixed at the top left of my screen, and on all my desktops! It is, after all, still in Beta!

My problem comes when I try to run it on my laptop, which is a bit behind, with Linux Mint 17 and
4.4.0-98-lowlatency kernel. I want to use it as a simple sound processor for my midi bass instrument
so I set it up with Carla, routing the instrument via Alsa and Jack to Carla. When I try to invoke the TripleCheese plugin Carla simply aborts - no messages apart from the basic Linux 'aborted' message if I invoke Carla from a terminal window. :(

I'm a bit reluctant to do a complete upgrade of the laptop to Mint 18 if there is some other way round the problem.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks, Bill

Here it works fine on Mint 17 Qiana KDE 64-bit. I never use Triple Cheese like this, but I gave it a try using the same alias I made about two years ago for other u-he synths, when I started using those synths (since then moved to DAWs). The kernel is, although not sure if it matters: 3.13.0-77-lowlatency #121-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT.

There might be a difference in use. At that time after asking around I settled on using something called 'carla-single' as I think there were problems running the full thing. 'carla-single' runs the synth then audio/MIDI connections are made using qjackctl. The plugins are stored at another location than the usual, but it does not matter:

% alias TC='cd /B3/Plugins/u-he/TripleCheese;carla-single vst ./TripleCheese.64.so'

%TC

Hope this somewhat helps.

Carla is in a process of rewriting, so maybe you should report your problem on the Linux Musician forum.
You can't always get what you waaaant...
