can midi CC msg select playback range?

Hi,
I there a way to make a jump during playback from one playing one range to anothber when a midi controller is pressed?

My target is to play piano lesson songs with my keyboard while Waveform plays a simple bass, drum and voice track (and initially also the piano track),
while keep looping in one range/verse of the song, until a press on a midi (foot) controller switches playback at the end of the measure/looping range over to a bridge and the next range/verse, or ending, or a previous verse.

I'm new to Tracktion, using Waveform on linux / Kubuntu with a Roland FA-08 keyboard.
Found a few partial solutions in this forum using a 3rd party VST plug-in that can process incoming midi events, but none were available or working on 64-bit linux.

btw, is there any more information on macros then the very short chapter in the manual? example code, list/quick reference of methods?
