Hi,
I am sure I am just missing something obvious but I just cant get a simple program change in waveform.
- deleted all existing program change messages
- added a program change
- it is written somewhere cause when the midi clip starts you can see the message under the control area:
- but nothing happens, I have tried that with different synths (lethal, diversion, collective), program just wont change, same chosen preset is playing in all clips
I feel like a complete idiot cause I know I have done that before (so it has been a long time since I worked with program changes but lethal just cries for it) but I must missing something obvious or do I need some option settings before ?

jabe, what version do you use ?
I use the actual wf9 beta and have not tried so far with wf 8 so it might be a beta-bug.
Could somebody else please just have a short try and confirm ?

I tried it with WF8. I'll try other versions and see what happens.
Well, T6 and T7 don't seem interested...
...unless I'm doing it wrong.
Okay, this is confusing. I tried T6, T7, W8, and W9, and W9 was the only one that it worked in.

[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Hi jabe,
in 9.0.25 beta it worked for you
Could you give me a short description what you did compared to what I tried and which synth you have chosen (would be great if it is something form within like collective/biotek or something free) ?
So I must have done something obvious wrong like I supposed...
But its strange cause I thought I had done it with T6 or T7 but that was years ago...

I will.
It's 9.0.25 and I'm using Tracktion FM Synth.
I inserted a blank MIDI clip on the track and drew a load of notes in it. I started it playing, and stopped it part way through. I made sure the clip was highlighted, and clicked Insert Program Change in the properties area. I chose 'Insert a program change at the cursor position' and picked a sound that was going to be clearly different. Moved the cursor to the start of the clip and started it playing and watched and listened for the change, which I did hear.
Something I've noticed is that if I play past the change point and then move the cursor back to play it again, the sounds I get before the change point are played with the sound that is supposed to start AT the change point. This is because there is no MIDI message in the clip to tell it to resume the pre-change sound. This may have affected the tests I did on T6/7/W8 because there were some very low notes in the projects I used and it was not easy to tell them apart.
Hope this helps. I will do the tests on the earlier versions again later on and report back.

Hi jabe,
thanks for the description, will try this out. What I had made different is that I had different midi clips already and tried the program change for the whole clip not inside the clip at cursor position. So I will try the cursour thing first and see if that works for me.

O.k.:
- program change with fm synth and at cursor position worked for me too
- program change for the whole clip with fm synth worked too
- still dont work at all with lethal (no matter if clip or at cursor position) even if lethal shows all banks and programs correctly
- still dont work at all with collective but there it dont even show the correct preset names in the bank (all "unknown") but at least if it work it should just change to the program number 10 whatever that is but it dont
- the same (dont work at all) with: biotek, diversion, ikarus.......
It seems to be a problem of connection to the synth/compatibility I dont know. Have not tried theses other synths in other daw, maybe I will next days in mulab for example cause thats easy to use.
I find it strange cause for me reacting on a program chance was just standard, maybe I am wrong. And: the program change is SHOWN as text info in the menue bar as shown in the screen above but synth just did not react on this. Just have tried with factory, just the same, change is shown as text info but nothing happens. Cant imaginge that this is the way it is suppose to work...
If someone find any other synth that WORKS this way in wf would be nice to post.

If the change is shown in the MIDI clip then we will have sent the message. It's probably just that a lot of plugins don't respond to program change messages (usually because they don't have a set program list, they can vary depending on installed content etc.).
Try adding a MIDI monitor plugin to the track before the synth and you'll probably see the MIDI Program Change go through it.
