Tracktion Software

Hi all,

I know there's not likely to be any word on this, but does anyone know which OSs Tracktion 2 will support? Will it continue to support Windows 98/Me, or will it be XP only?

The reason I ask is I/m upgrading my system at the moment and would prefer not to have to shell out for XP right now.

Without Tracktion 2 consideration drop Windows 98 and use XP !

Tracktion 2 will not be ready before 3 years....

yeh, Ixox is just making a joke about Tracktion 2 taking a while to be released. Most people estimate some time before the end of the year, and it's Mackie's policy not to announce it until it is ready.

LOL... I can't speak for Ixox again, but I think he was joking about the fact that if it did take 3 years to release XP would be the most used Windows OS by that time

I'm pretty sure it was mostly a statement about XP versus 98/Me. The former is robust and stable, while the latter is crippled and unstable.

Of course, some people run 98 seemingly 'forever' without any problems. In my wee home network, though, the 2 XP computers never have problems and the 98 is a constant source of headaches.

I was very hesitant to change from ME to XP for a long time, though many recommended that. In retrospect, it was a VERY good thing to do, as my system has much better stability and performance now. As someone else said, regardless of Tracktion 2, shell out the $99 for an XP upgrade.

WOW... I make a lot of jokes....

Cannot remember what i wanted to say....

But XP is far better than windows 98....
Stability, latency, multi processing, memory management, newest device driver etc....

And yes Tracktion 2 takes a while and we don't know anything about it which SUCKS A LOT !!!!

2K is an excellent option. Except for the little green 'start' button, I have all the crap-tastic XP GUI "enhancements" (barf) turned off. It's as much like 2K as possible. Only thing is-- My puter came with XP installed, so I didn't want to 'downgrade'.

If you're upgrading from 98, though, 2K is great.

As for the 3 years for Tracktion v2:

I have 2 Athlon XP 2600.
One in a new laptop under XP and one in my main desktop computer under windows 2000.

For your information:
With the built-in sound card of my laptop (windows XP) and the ASIO4ALL driver i can play my project with a latency under 5 ms !!
My desktop (windows 2000) has a Terratec EWX24/96 with terratec asio driver and i can't go under 8 ms.

I don't know if it's only because of the OS... Can be chipsets, bad IRQ sharing, driver itself etc....
But it seems that XP has better low latency result...
