Rendering , & panning. (beginnners questions.)

1. I was using groove agent the other day, and I think I chose "render to track". I was expecting to see a new track below the midi-track with a wav file(like ACID Pro does it), but in fact the midi track seemed to disappear altogether, which came as a bit of a shock as I might want to tweak it later. Is there some way of rendering a bit of midi without destroying the associated midi track?
2. Also I find it nice and easy to pan audio by dropping a little vol/pan icon onto the audio. Is there an equivalent way of panning a midi clip, or do you have to "automate"?
3. I accidentally hit the red "record automation button" and tweaked the master volume control. Other vsti automations seem to have their own track, so where and how do I see these global tweaks so I can delete them?
Thats enough for now, thanks for any help.

When you "render into project directory" you should get a choice between replacing the MIDI track with audio, and adding a new audio track above the original.. this feature was added fairly recently: what version of Tracktion are you using?handy wrote: 1. MIDI cc10 is the standard pan controller, but not all synths will respond to it.. if you are sending the MIDI to a vsti you may need to automate the vol/pan filter AFTER the vsti (ie: panning the audio from the synth rather than instructing the synth to pan its output)handy wrote: 2. Maybe theres a quicker way (anyone?) but clicking the "A" button at the top right of each track brings up a list of automation parameters in various categories: Check the "Active parameters for this track" (or similar.. I'm at work, can't check) for each track untill you find the rogue data.handy wrote: 3. I accidentally hit the red "record automation button" and tweaked the master volume control. 1. Ah, great to know - I haven't updated for a while (2 months). I think I'm using something like 1.52, but don't quote me!
2. thanks.
3. I think I understand what you're saying. I have managed to press "A" and delete rogue data on individual tracks, but I couldn't work out where the "track" is for the master volume control at the bottom right of the screen, so thats what my question was trying to get at. Do you know where equivalent "A" button is for that?

Automation for anything can be on any track.. it's up to you to organise this in a sensible way: Best bet would be to create a blank track and use it just for master automation..

just to clarify, if you drag the little 'A' from any track over the master volume control, you should be able to choose volume and get the automation curve for the master volume. (how I would do it anyways)
