HI there.
Is there any way to use any of the 100s of vsts out there that only exist in 32 bits in Waveform 9?

Or some other bridging software.

This being this a workaorund and a pain in the butt to work with, I guess I just shot myself in the foot by upgrading to W9

Too be honest once set up, it just works, certainly in my case. I had no problems at all with jbridge.

DDMF has a bridge too, might be more user friendly as well as cheaper than Jbridge . thanks

I am sure it does, but maybe I should have looked into this before upgrading.
I need to finish a few projects before I can start using W9 if I decide to keep using it. I can't understand why not offer a 32bits version. But then again, it is not my application and therefore not for me to decide the direction the company takes.
Thanks again.

Jbridge cost 15,-€ and bridgewize from DDMF costs nearly 26,-€...
I would say jbridge is quite a lot cheaper for a simple bridge and works absolutely flawless...

From general experience, supporting 32bit when most of the world is 64bit slows down development and testing, can add instability, and can even prevent newer features from being implemented or from working well if they are implemented. Tech moves fast and it's annoying to have once-shiny tech become "legacy" - but that's what 32bit anything is, now. Hope you can get your projects done and then try an app that'll help span the divide (Blue Cat also makes a great vst that'll let you use 32bit and 64bit together).

Main reason I haven't upgraded...

It makes a lot of sense and I, as an IT tech, should have expected and be prepared for something like this by now. But I would think that a "warning" letter a couple of times before release for the user base could have prepared us for it. Maybe it was there and I missed it XD
Anyway. After a couple of days thinking about it. I have decided to go the 64 bits route at once and use this as an excuse to clean up, once again, my vst folders as I realized that my already slim folder needs some more cleaning. I end up using only half of the FX and synths I own and of those, most have 64 bit versions already. I tested and purchased Jbridge to use with the few FX and synths which will not see an upgrade to 64 bits anytime soon, or ever, like Camelaudio and the VOS FX.
So. Here we go! :)

Hi there, we did open this up for discussion several months before W9 was released here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=492641
It was the first bold item on the list.

Generally, the switch to 64-bit has been well received and hasn't caused too many issues for most users. Most plugin manufacturers have been delivering 64-bit versions along with their 32-bit version for many years now so it's often a seamless change.
Of course there are a few edge cases but I think the improved stability and performance as a result has made it more than worth it.

Hope that helps explain how we arrived here,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply.
No big deal anymore. I'll finish what I have pending in W8 and then move completely onto 64 bits.
The main reason I was out of touch with the change was because I have stopped hanging around forums. It was either keep at it or making music. Music wins hands down ;)
I can understand the whole deal of moving from legacy 32 bits and I agree. It should have started a long time ago. The only thing thst worries me a bit is trying to find replacement for those vst which have long been discontinued, but that is part of process of moving on with technology.
Thanks again anf you all take care,
