Hi!

I always wondered why MBitFun(MB) has not control for the sample rate. I guess with all the modualtion options this could cause some additional havoc. A nice litte addon would be a spread value, ie an offset between the channels.

AFAIK in PCM usually not all values are quantization the same. The sample are weighted somehow by the amplitude (non-linear PCM). If I'm not mistaken then the "expand" knob of Native Instruments new BITE (part of Effects Crush Pack) allows to change that:
Changes the distribution of the quantization values in the amplitude range. At its
lowest setting, the amount of quantization values is weighted towards zero level. This allows
low-level signals to be quantized at a higher resolution. At maximum setting, the quantization
values are evenly distributed across the entire amplitude range. This reduces the resolution
available for quantizing low-level signals, effectively turning them into pulse waves.
I know, copying is boring. OTOH this sounds like fun.

Chipcrusher does μ-law (or was it A-law?) bitcrushing. It'd be really cool to have something like this in MBitFun so there's finer control over the really 'aggressive' bits up top.

Trying to minimize duplicites here. Various distortion modes like that are in MDistortionMB. I think it fits there more, after all what you are explaining isn't really related to "bits".

About the quantization - uLaw etc., actually you can do that by using 2 waveshapers (inverting each other) and some distortion in between depending on what you want. Probably supereasy to make in MXXX.

True. MBitFun goes beyond the average bit-plugin which usually feature only reduction nof the bit depth. OTOH they usually come with an option to decrease the sample rate as well.

For me the point of using sample rate modulation together with other bit stuff is to have a one-stop plugin for some types of glitch effects. I guess the answer to this will be, buy MDistortionMB and MXXX :)

Hehe. Easy for the ones in the know :)

Anway, I don't know what I want ;) I've just read the description of the plugin. Maybe it's sufficient to modulate the bit depth with a follower.

Understood, but you know, implementing what we already have... People are asking for so contradictory stuff :D.

Anyways I made you a little active preset for MXXX:

Oh, that's very clever. Excellent thinking. Cheers!

So stupid. Why don't they simply want what I want? ;)
