I posted this in the wrong place at first so here is a copy and paste of my original post.
"I wasn't sure where to post this question, if it doesn't belong here please help direct me to where it belongs.
I am currently using Waves 9.2 but have everything back to T5. I'm using 2 different laptops and both are running Windows 10.
A friend of mine loaned me his xtouch to try. It automatically sets up like it should when I plug it in to either computer. When I open Tracktion, go to settings, go to control surfaces and click on universal MC control it gives me no option for a device to use as input or output. I tried it with both computers and I tried to set it up in T5, T7 and Waveform 8 and 9. Not sure that it matters but the x touch is running the latest firmware and we used it to control my x32 with great success. I'm sure I'm missing some little thing that I need to do. Argh."
I've done google searches with no real luck. I'm guessing I'm missing something.

Have you loaded the USB driver for xtouch on the PC?

Actually it is plug and play.
I finally figured it out today. You have to go to the midi settings tab and set it up there first, then you can go to the control surface tab and set it up. I was quite frustrated. This is one of Behringers videos on how to set it up
.
No where does it say to set it up as a midi device first.

Got ya. Good luck with it.
