Hi!

Another not-so-useful idea of mine :clown:

A follower that can either follows the panning (level difference between L/R) or the width (or correlation *).

Use cases for following the panning position:

Setup: A physical sound source that is recorded with a stereo microphone and is moving around between the mics. Or a any sound source that is panned with automation (you're about to change the automation often and you don't want to bother to add more automation).

You want to
* use a stereo delay with it's outputs slighty panned off the followed signal
* use a reverb panned exactly like the followed signal
* have a complimentary sound panned exactly to the opposite side of followed signal

Use cases for following the width:

Setup: any stereo source with changing width

You want to
* have a sound that moves to the side of the stereo field when the followed signal gets wider (the followed sound is centered)
* have sound that ducks (ie is lowered in volume) when the followed signal gets wider (the modulated sound is originally panned rather near to the followed sound)

Masi

* I'm unsure about the difference between stereo width and stereo correlation.

have you checked out: https://www.meldaproduction.com/MAutoStereoFix

also, you can use MXXX to do some of this already. I have made some useful stereo processing effects in MXXX, e.g. splitting a signal into L and R and using Phatik to match the volumes in various ways. I've found this super useful for things like 'whoosh' sounds that have left to right panning in them, when i want it to be 'neutral' center position.

No. But I don't want to fix anything.

What I want to suggest is yet another modulator. Right now we have an envelope and a pitch follower. So I thought we might have a stereo follower as well.

Possibly. Still hestitating to ride this beast though ;)

I'm afraid this is unlikely to happen, sorry. Besides the fact that I don't have the dev time for this, it most likely wouldn't work the way you think it would. Stereo is usually abruptly changing in every sample, it's not like there's some logical transition you are hearing.
