I am able to to create some nice transitions using the the phase distorion osc .effe.
The trick is to set the PD.effect to full and use geomorph to scan trough the waveforms cycles , and
In phase distortion mode ,a 50% cycle triangle wave gives you a sine wave .
SO to transition from a saw to sine , you would create a saw wave ( upper half only , since the bottom halve is a duplicate ) and a triangle in the last window , make sure that all points are merged perfectly etc...
Here are some basic phase distortion presets .

But , I can't achieve phase distortion on a sine wave (skewing the angle )..is this even possible ?

If I understand what you mean by "skewing the angle" -- and I totally might not -- you're limited by the behavior of the effect. Playing around with it for a little bit with an oscilloscope plugin, it looks like the phase of the sine wave that is modulated by your oscillator resets each cycle*. So, you get a discontinuity at the beginning of each cycle when you try to modulate with another sine wave--which, in a more conventional phase modulation context, would get you where you want to go.

But if I've misunderstood I'd be interested to know what you're trying to do. I hadn't played with this effect much before!

*or distortion resets to zero, or something resets to zero... haven't quite puzzled it out yet.
