Hi all,

I am currently demoing MDrummer (how to resist to this week ultra sales madness ?) and I have several questions on points I did not unsterdood and I did not found answers in documentation or video tutorials:

1) How to use OH and Rooms channels ? It seems that changing levels sliders, output channel number did not do anything to the sound...I would like to use them as MDrummer's outputs to use them in standard mixing workflow inside my DAW with one dedicated track per drums, OH and room track (as with could do with another softwares like Kontakt for example). Nothing seems to happen on the OH and room channel's output as well (the other drums channels outputs work well) and I would like to know if I need to "activate" OH and Room channels or something like that. Documentation is quite evasive on this topic and video tutorials seems to be outdated since OH and room channels feature apparead in later releases.

2) Is there a way to make the output channels on mono instead of stereo ? As above, the goal is to have a standard mixing workflow with separated tracks for each drums and it would be better for me to have the tracks in mono.

Thanks a lot in advance and thanks a lot to Melda for making all these awesome plugins.

1) The OH & Room thing is kind of hybridly added to MDrummer, which mostly serves to be an all-around drum machine. Anyways these channels are available from the Mixer and Effects tabs. Workflow isn't ideal though. But note that none of the released libraries use it yet. The forthcoming Studio 2018, which will probably be one of the biggest libraries out there, will utilize it a lot though.

2) I'm afraid not, everything is stereo in MDrummer. I'm not sure why would you want that though. There's no advantage of mono.

As I said it's all a hybrid construction and hopefully one day we'll make some hybrid mixer :) over it, so that it looks traditional. Personally I hate the approach used in the classic mixing, it makes no sense for virtual instruments, where we actually can afford to do it better, yet it is so often done in the limited way. But well... yeah...

Hi,

Thanks a lot goldglob and Vojtech for your quick and clear answer.

Ok wait and see about OH and Room channels and I hope that the future "Studio 2018" will be destroy everything :D

Yes Vojtech, I understand your point and I agree with you but I can see 2 points that can make multi-output in mono interesting:
* Using MDrummer for mixing training (great for beginners) and get separated drums track in mono to be able to mix it as if you received stems with drums recorded using mics. You are able to mix your tracks with any plugin you want (and not just the embedded ones), stock plugins if you want, do panning etc...
* Being able to print the "raw" drum track without any processing to be able redo the mix later on without the need to have to reuse or reinstall the original VST intrument or use different plugins if needed

Thanks a lot Vojtech for taking time to answer. I am a MixingFX bundle user and I love Melda plugins !

On the outputs of each channel you can add fx. In this case use something like utility or stereo expander to collapse each track to mono. You might even be able to save it as a preset to save yourself some time.

Thanks for the tip.

Another way to do that, is to bounce stereo output to mono using the DAW. It can be done easily with Studio but at to be done at the end of the song writing process.
