Saving control surface mappings

I have taken some time to map my surface controller,only to find that the mappings do not load at startup.

Fortunately,I exported them before I closed Waveform and was able to import them. Are the mappings per the whole DAW or just per project ? How do I get the same mappings to be universal and to load for all and every project ?

Can control surfaces be used with Waveform ?

Mine is a Nektar Panorama P6.
