Hi there,

first topic from me in this (sub-)forum and I have to start with a simple question (sorry):

Is it possible to have the XY targets reflect the actual change made by XY? What I mean is, if I assign for instance, VCF1 cutoff to Y1, and then in the performance (or XY1) tab change the Y value (which should change the cutoff of VCF1), then I would expect the cutoff knob in the VCF1 module itself to reflect the new (changed by the XY pad) value (rather than staying it at the value from before I assigned Y1 to it). It seems that this should be possible somehow, as the manual actually seems to refer to the behaviour I would have expected on page 71 in step 8: "[...]because you have just turned the cutoff knob down. Open the SYNTHESIS window and see for yourself[...]".

That's probably not a good idea if the actual cutoff knob gets MIDI learned or host automated. XY pads have a different visualization that you can see in the XY tab in the lower half.

That's a good point. This sentence in the manual is confusing then though.

This used to bother me but eventually I realized it's much better the way it is. It's best to think of the XY controls as relative modulation, with your fingers / midi controller(s) as the eg or lfo.
It also allows you to change the actual value of the parameter while performing without effecting the XY position, which is sometimes important (as long as you don't go out of range).
I do wish there was a way to make the XY pads (and so much else) default to higher resolution for value changes without needing to use shift, though I've solved that in my case by mapping 14-bit midi controls on a Joue to them.
