I am considering purchasing Tracktion Waveform 9 and am new to DAWs. I currently have an OEM version of Waveform 8 installed on Win 7. I have a Nektar Impact LX25+ and a Nektar Impact LX49+ keyboard. The Nektar Impact LX25+ is detected and shows up in Waveform 8. However, neither transport controls, key pads, faders or knobs function. Considering that Nektar Impact LX+ keyboards seem to be quite popular and well supported to varying degrees in various DAWs (as well as supporting Mac, Win and Linux), I am quite surprised at the lack of script support and am wondering if this is a reflexion of a general malaise in Waveform development or if supporting MIDI keyboard controller functions just doesn't have a priority. In most other ways, I am impressed by Waveform, but I am concerned that Tracktion Waveform becomes a new Renoise. Should I take the plunge and purchase Waveform 9?

You probably need to map your control surface (Which is what the knobs, sliders, buttons etc are doing, acting as a control surface) in the settings in Waveform, then you'll be able to use those features on your keyboards. Basically tell Waveform you want to use it as a controller, which I assume you haven't yet.
If your Nektar kit supports Mackie HUI mode, which many do, try setting it up as a "Mackie Control Universal" controller in that page, highlight that, and set the Input Device to your keyboard. You might need to do something on the Nektars to tell them to go into HUI mode, or they might default to that.

Having had a very quick look, there's a support page on the Nektar website which tells you how to set their Impact controller up to work with Tracktion/Waveform ...

Wow! Cool! Many thanks. I have been searching for this for quite some time, without finding it. I will give it a try.chico.co.uk wrote: Fri Nov 23, 2018 9:49 am Having had a very quick look, there's a support page on the Nektar website which tells you how to set their Impact controller up to work with Tracktion/Waveform ...

BTW, I have looked at some of the other threads in this forum and discovered that Waveform 10 is expected sometime in spring 2019. That sounds like active development to me. Apologies to any devs that thought my post provocative. That was unintentional. I just don't want to make the same mistake twice.
