Just out of curiosity, have you tried the demo? Watched the video demo/ tutorials? Read through the PDF?
I'm no expert with it, but I'm pretty sure that the list of what is not possible with MXXX is much shorter than the list of what is possible.

I have tried the demo I'm just curious if more experienced people have faith in the ability of this system

I mean, you are using plug-ins of which you can modulate any parameter of any multiple plugins at once and you can route them by your liking to each other. Which means it should be possible for you to emulate anything as long as you know how to do it

If you wanna pull up a massive patch, use massive?

the keyword is "if you know how to do it". if you don't know how to recreate a Manley Compressor with MXXX, you won't be able to use it unless someone else can and shares a preset with you.Underoath77 wrote: Fri Dec 14, 2018 7:45 am Ok cool. plus, the thing about MXXX is that it's essentially a shell for all other Melda plugins. meaning, you can do EQ'ing only if you have a license for the EQ model. unless you own the complete Melda plugins suite, not everything will be available inside MXXX.
long story short, if you think MXXX is some sort of a magic bullet that can replace every other plugin - you're in for a disappointment. it's technically true - MXXX can potentially replace all other plugins. it just won't, until you learn 1) what you want, and 2) how to use it to get what you want. and by "what you want" i don't mean knowing it in terms of "i want a Manley Compressor", but more in terms of "i want X ratio with Y knee with Z compression curve A attack settings B release settings C topology D saturation..." kind of knowledge. i.e. if you want a "Manley Compressor", you need to know exactly what it does to the sound to recreate it.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Try the demo and you'll see that MXXX is a modular plugin consisting of all other plugins (in case you have the license). You can chain them with multiple audio paths. All multi-params and modulators can work on all the parametrs of all the plugins contained in the patch.
If that's enough to emulate real hardware I do not know. And actually I don't care. As I don't have the hardware I wouldn't be able to create a patch.
But if you like to be creative with plugins and have a sweet spot for weird audio mangling MXXX is your tool.

You're thinking of MXXX Core; MXXX includes the functionality of all the other plugins.plus, the thing about MXXX is that it's essentially a shell for all other Melda plugins. meaning, you can do EQ'ing only if you have a license for the EQ model. unless you own the complete Melda plugins suite, not everything will be available inside MXXX.
Set Theory claim:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate.
Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

Thanks Simon for the link. I wasn't aware of all these creative MXXX examples. The link you gave though is a single video. I'd recommend perhaps for people interested to simply do a search on youtube with: "Simon Stockhausen MXXX".
Cheers.

I only can speak for myself and for me its a huge borderless playing ground for experimentation. Every time I use it in a on the fly jamming session I come out with something totally different and amazing. It's a haven for people willing to experiment and getting surprised. I really can't imagine anything you can't built with it... but I am not an expert in recreating a Fairchild or something like that and I am neither so interested in doing so. I like to build weird combinations and love that everything can be modulated by everything... the outcome often is astonishing.
