Controlling Repro or Diva with hardware synths - Suggestion for Relative and Fine modes

(@moderators: not sure whether this should go into the "Improvements" thread - please tell me)

I like controlling Repro or Diva (or other analog emulation VSTs) with a hardware synth (in this case an OB6). I much prefer turning the OB6's cutoff knob to changing Repros cutoff parameter with the mouse or trackpad.

However, there are some limitations, and I would like to suggest here two features that I think u-he could implement relatively easily and that would improve the experience a lot.

1. When I check out presets on a hardware synth, I prefer the "relative" knob mode that most synths offer. In this mode, when you move the knob a litte bit (after you changed the preset), the parameter value does not jump to the physical value of the knob (like in absolute mode), but instead moves without jumps in the right direction. (The mode has its disadvantages as well, which I will not describe here, but it is very useful depending on what you want to do.)
So my suggestion is, to add a "MIDI CC relative mode" button to the GUI of Repro and Diva etc. This button should also be MIDI learnable, so that you can easily change between relative and absolute mode from your hardware synth/controller. With this mode, the VST would then temporarily evaluate the incoming absolute CC values as relative changes, like the hardware synths that have this mode do.
Put another way, the software should behave the same way it already does when you change the parameter values by click-and-drag with your computer.

2. As an addition to that, I suggest a "MIDI CC fine" mode. Again, it should have a corresponding MIDI learnable button in the GUI. If it is switched on (in addition to the relative mode), the relative movements will be interpreted as fine movements.
Again, this corresponds to the way u-he VSTs already behave, when you click-and-drag with your computer, while holding down the SHIFT key.

What do you think? Should u-he put this on their (certainly long) wish list of features?

Best regards,
Edo

PS: I have two more suggestions, which I will post another time.
PPS: By the way, is there any place on this forum where we could share the .midiassign.txt (MIDI learn) files that some of us create for our various u-he VST and hardware synth combinations?

You can already assign (in the list) a MIDI CC for "fine selected" (the parameter is indifferent in this case). This gives you fine control for the last knob you turned, or the last knob you clicked with a mouse.

[EDIT] You can choose "Last Clicked" and "Last Clicked Fine" as MIDI assign targets in the parameter drop down. Those should not only work for the last control clicked, but als for the last MIDI learned parameter touched.

Hi Urs,
thanks for your reply.
But that is not what I mean. I would like to use the same HW knob (e.g. my OB6's Filter Cutoff) to be able to operate in three different modes (abs/rel/fine), and to be able to switch between these modes quickly and easily also from the OB6. I already discussed this with Viktor.
Best regards,
Edo
