Zebra: How to modulate the sequencer speed?

I came across a patch called "Percamon" in the free soundbank "Zebra Food by Menno Meijer" and noticed that when you play a note, the sequencer slowly speeds up and at some point returns to the slow speed and keeps looping like that.

I tried to find the modulator creating this effect but couldn't find what it was. I'm probably missing something obvious but maybe someone can tell what it is. The patch works in 2.3 mode so could it be some removed feature not shown in the interface anymore?

I don't recall any features removed from Zebra...

The trick that makes the arp do that speed/slowdown thing is actually setting the Swing timebase to a high value (in this case a dotted half note) and 50% swing amount, when arp speed is not set to the same value (in this case, 16th triplet). Some interesting interplay between triplets and dotted swung offsets there.

Nice one! Had no idea that the Swing function could be used for such a trick. Thanks for the explanation EvilDragon

I had no idea either, until I rummaged through the patch a bit! :)

I'm pretty sure Howie is now all like "heh, plebs!". :P

I know... Us poor infants trying to pretend like we know anything about proper patch designing :help:

It's great to have a synthesizer that still teaches you new tricks after ten years of use!
