Airwindows plugins I believe are free-ish and can be used in other DAWS when acquired from the source. However, they have virtually no GUI - the GUI in Waveform is a definite improvement, as basic as it is.

Is that the same? There is not too much information to find on substractive and Artisan.

Collective is a different synth but AFAIK more powerful and can do everything subtractive can.
Linux version?

I have to say Collective is just really something special. The more I use it the more I love it. When I do composing now I throw collective at everything and then once I have my song together I start switching out different instruments. I end up using the collective sound a lot more often then I expected. For someone without hundreds of dollars in sounds I can't think of a better way to get started.
