Hi,

Just wondering what really Diva’s multicore functionality is for, … it is for spread the processing load across the cores when you have more than one voice in a patch? When you have several instances of Diva simultaneously? Or both?

I have tested various instances of Diva 7422 at the same time into a song, with only mono (or legato) patches, Multicore on, Accuracy divine & Offline Accuracy best, with a Core i5 7xx (4 cores) PC with Win 7 Pro 64 bits OS and I haven’t experienced a CPU overload.

Also, I noticed (watching the Windows task manager), that the load of each core seems to be different, this is due to the Multicore on? If so, it is correct to have Multicore on for mono or legato patches or should be only for poly patches?

I am now thinking to update my PC to LGA 2066 socket + Intel Core i7-9xx (8 cores) and Win 10 Pro 10 64 bits, do you think this update will let me to run more Diva instances at the same time? Or more simultaneously voices?

Regarding OS, Will the Diva and its multicore performance run better on this new PC using Win 10 Pro 10 64 bits?, Or should I keep using Win 7 Pro 64 bits?

Thanks in advance for your answers. By the way, love Diva to death (and Repro too!)

Regards.

It's the former - spreads out voices from a single instance across cores. However it will saturate all cores given enough instances with MC enabled...

Do note that you should get a machine that has FAST cores, not necessarily a huge number of them. From that perspective, I feel you should check out i7-9900K. 8 cores with hyperthreading, and can be nicely overclocked to 5 GHz. Diva will appreciate that love.

Also, forget about W7, next year it's losing support and security updates.
