If i insert a new tempo 'at locator position'
and set it to ramped as opposed to an immediate jump
in tempo, is there any way to change the curve of the ramped tempo,?,
lets say i want a fast ramped jump, do i apply
it to a very small midi part for the ramp to
go in quickly, or do you have to apply several
succeeding 'inserts' on a larger midipart, close to
eachother?

technically no, but what you can do is divide that ramped change and tweak the middle tempo. If i insert a new tempo 'at locator position'

if you insert a new tempo change in the middle of a ramped change it will have the exact tempo of the ramp at that moment. if you want it to speed up more towards the end, add a tempo change 3/4 through the ramp and lower the tempo at that point.
Experiment with it and you should get the results you want.
