Why is that f**king Volume and Pan plugin on each track to even see the volume fader and pan knob in the Mixer? This is really nonsense.

It's there so you can have completely flexible routing. You can see where it is in the signal chain. What's the problem with it anyway

Yes, it's there so you can see where it is. If you have multiple vol/pan plugins in the mixer they will all appear to avoid confusion.

I don’t speak English, but this very well :D

In case anyone can't understand why you'd need more than one vol/pan plugin in a track, I often use one for volume automation and a second one for global track volume.

Something to bear in mind is that the plugin list for the track actually *IS* the mixer in Traction DAWs. The "mixer" view that was added with Waveform (after having had seven major releases without one) is an alternative way to look at the volume/pan plugins that have been there from the beginning.

I don't really even use the mixer view, but if I did I would be more likely to use it for the meters than for the volume/pan controls because I find the ones on the plugins on the tracks work quite well for me.

I would like to be able to configure 3rd party channel strip plugins as substitutes for the volume/pan plugin. For example, there could be a checkbox on the plugin settings page that would cause the selected plugin to be treated as a "volume/pan" controller and allow the specific parameters of the plugin which represent "volume" and "pan" to be selected.

This should cause the volume/pan controls to show up in the plugin area as well as cause the plugin to be used when constructing the separate mixer view, so that we could more easily substitute a channel strip for the standard plugin and still keep the controls more accessible (currently you can only have one parameter displayed on the channel strip for an external plugin, while volume/pan displays two - it would be nice to be able to configure that parameter at the settings level also so that it gets applied by default to newly inserted instances of that plugin).

I second that wish! There's a lot of channel strip plugins around these days. In my case, these would be the Brainworx console N/E/G plugins. There could even be a per track property to choose the parameters of any plugin on that track to be represented in the mixer. Maybe if you could create a faceplate for a mixer channel, and choose any parameter of any plugin in the track for the different knobs and switches...
Waveform seems to have pole position among the DAWs for this sort of configuration...

And, while we're at it, scale on the meters would be highly appreciated, at least in the mixer. ;-)

I love Waveform and (most of) its paradigms. And I'm a software developer myself, so I understand and appreciate all the work of the few devs and that they can't just put anything in we users wish for! Thank you anyways! :-)

It actually fits in with the whole "modular mixer" theme too. 8)

Yes, this. It's very useful to be able to automate volume changes, then turn the track volume up/down without having to edit every automation point.

There are still some of us around who remember when Tracktion was, essentially, abandonware, and are grateful that JS put together TSC to rescue it. Some of us are more than willing to help anyone with problems, but sometimes we can't help but take things a little personally. I can understand people have frustrations with things; I know I have plenty myself. I wonder what Dogs Go Woof would say about your language on here.

Amen brother. Let's be nice to each other, and assume that the Tracktion devs had good reasons for doing what they did when asking questions.
