MCompressor custom shape as modulation source?

Hi Folks,
I love the custom shape in MCompressor.
It would be amazing to have this XY graph for a modulation source envelope follower.
So instead of the graph mapping input volume to output volume (as in MCompressor), it would map input volume (on the X axis) to modulation value on the Y axis. Along with the visual input volume level line already present in MCompressor.
Perhaps this is already possible somehow, and i know the subsystem has envelope followers, but i'd love to see them offered in this way.
Any ideas? ....... D

If you're trying to do what I think you're trying to do...
Maybe you could use an automation lane within your DAW to vary the threshold level.
This may not be exactly what you have in mind, but hopefully it's in the ballpark.

Nope, you're misunderstanding me!
I'll try it again:
At the moment the MCompressor is outputting audio.
I'm suggesting moving into the modulator section and making it a modulator source (envelope follower).
So instead of outputting audio, it'll output a modulation value.
Or is this already possible? I mean to take external audio from the DAW, send it into MXXX (for example), split it into two paths. One path goes into FX, the other path goes into an envelope follower which outputs modulation values (which you can use to modulate the FX).
(Plus being able to feedback an amount of the resulting audio back into the input of the envelope follower would also be nice!)

It's probably better to just use your DAW to split your audio into two tracks, put MCompressor on one track, feed that as a sidechain to the other track where you have MXXX. I think that would be far less confusing, but since you asked if MXXX could do it, it's possible, as long as you don't mind nesting one instance of MXXX inside another one.
1. Put MXXX on your source audio track.
2. Drop Compressor onto lane 2 and set it up with a custom curve, etc.
3. Drop MXXX onto Lane 1, right click and have it take its sidechain from lane 2. You may want to steal the sidechain as well.
4. Put whatever FX you want in the nested copy of MXXX.
5. In the nested MXXX, set up a mod follower to listen to the sidechain and then modulate whatever FX you added.
You can also nest MXXX1 or ModularEx and get similar results to save on resources if you want.
Here's an example MXXX preset that doesn't do anything useful, but demonstrates the concept. You could make a dynamic EQ out of it if you spent the time to tune it up and finish it:

This is your default style, right?: Now i can't switch back to the default style (which i use).
It keeps jumping back to your style.

Hi folks,
In Jmalge's example above, why is it necessary to nest the plugin that receive the sidechain within it's own MXXX?
When i try to construct it without this nested MXXX (so, the whole thing in one MXXX), it doesn't work.
Any ideas?
