What I would really love more than anything else in the world is ACE 2 -- which I would think of as ACE brought into the same stratosphere as Bazille.

In fact, when Bazille appeared, I assumed that that's what it was. Until I discovered that it has "digital" oscillators and is more focused on PM/FM stuff. My heart sank.

It is very clearly an amazing instrument. And I do not doubt for a second that people can coax very analogue-sounding noises out of it (or any kind of noise, for that matter). But I, personally, have a lot of trouble doing that. I will claim nothing more than personal preference, here, but even the demo tracks for ACE sound better to me than the demo tracks for Bazille.

I don't even think I would want to "double" everything as Bazille does (four oscillators, four filters, etc.). Then again, why not? But if ACE had a couple of more mults, a rectifier, an inverter, a lag generator, two mappers . . . I think I would be in synth heaven.

I get the sense, though, that the ACE project is over; there might be another entry in the Berlin Modular series, but way in the future and probably something more like a rack modular? Even though I gather that ACE has actually sold better than Bazille?

Anyway, I think ACE is a monster -- and has a very different "out of the box" sound from Bazille. It is my absolute go to for just about everything. I would love for it to be revisited at some point.

EDIT: One more thing. ACE isn't particularly tricked out in the FX department, and I'm not sure that's very high on my list. But it has the best chorus I have ever heard anywhere. Better than any separate plug I have ever tried. It's just completely gorgeous.

It's far from over, we're actually preparing to release an update. While we won't be adding any product-changing features like additional oscillators or effects, it will bring ACE up to snuff in most other aspects, i.e. add the searchable tag browser, Unicode support, MIDI-learnable VST3, etc.

ACE is over? There was a whole ACE 2 thread recently. You're not alone. There were a few requests for an ACE 2 or ACE XL and it didn't seem like it was outside of the realm of possibility. At least, Urs didn't jump in to say "not gonna happen." I think more likely, Zebra 3 is the next big synth project, that'll keep U-he busy into next year along with an Uhbik update and some smaller updates to some of the synths (which we're already seeing), and then who knows what's next after that? Could be Diva 2 (my personal on-deck wishlist item), ACE 2, something new.

You know, I knew that someone somewhere on the forum was probably saying the same thing, but I just couldn't find it. Thank you for indulging me!

You have made my day with the idea that ACE would be revisited at some point. And I can wait, because this thing is already so incredibly deep, I doubt I'll ever exhaust it as is.

And the Uhbiks! Be still my beating heart. THE most underrated effect set on planet earth.

I have an idea! How about Bazille and ACE both got a wave folder module or two with the browser update?

Ace is really great at analog bass. Bazille is really great at digital bass. Bazille's interface is a lot nicer. I know people love the gear porn skin, but I like the default. Ace's needs dramatic improvement.

Neither of the default Bazille skins click with me but that Eurorack-like Tokyo Ghost skin by Plugmon is the best third party U-he skin I've ever used. Organizes things in a very intuitive, clean, way, no tabbing around, makes great use of space... To me it's perfect. I literally feel lost in Bazille without it but navigate the Ghost without issue.

You know, if Bazille's oscillators could be switched to Zebra's oscillators and back, I would never need another instrument.

The only thing that I really miss in Bazille is swing/shuffle for the sequencer. I really hate when I can't give a sequence a bit of groove as it often can't match a track. U-he guys, any chance of that making it to Bazille?
